About FreelanceTaxKit

FreelanceTaxKit is a set of free tax calculators and guides for freelancers, independent contractors, gig workers and small business owners in the United States.

I'm Khaled, and I build and maintain the site. Working for yourself means doing your own tax maths: setting money aside from every invoice, paying the IRS four times a year and knowing which costs you can deduct. Most tax tools either hide the numbers behind a sign-up or are built to sell you software. These calculators show every step instead.

How the calculators are built

Every figure comes from the IRS or the Social Security Administration and is listed on the figures and sources page. The calculation code is tested against hand-worked examples, and each page shows the date its figures were last checked. When the IRS changes something mid-year, as it did with the 2026 mileage rate, the site is updated.

Your privacy

The calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you type are never sent to a server or stored.

What this site is not

FreelanceTaxKit gives estimates for planning, not tax advice. For decisions about your own situation, talk to an enrolled agent or CPA.
